SBMEF is the national scholarship trust of ABWA and its objective is to help members and other women achieve their business and/or professional goals through education.  It is a tax-exempt trust, administered by the elected national officers of the Association who serve as trustees and as the selection board.  SBMEF has awarded more than $14.8 million in scholarships to women since its inception, and is named in honor of Stephen Bufton, son of ABWA founder Hilary A. Bufton, Jr., and Ruth H. Bufton.  Contributions can be made directly to SBMEF through bequests, life insurance and other sources.
